Rich Homie Quan’s father, Corey Lamar, recently opened up during a heartfelt appearance on the It’s Up There podcast, where he reflected on the emotional toll that his son’s falling out with Young Thug had on the late rapper.

In the candid conversation, Corey described the death of his son as “overwhelming” and spoke about the private nature of Quan’s funeral. When asked whether the music industry showed enough support in the wake of his passing, Corey explained that he intentionally kept the ceremony private, choosing not to make it a public event.

Corey went on to reveal that Rich Homie Quan was deeply affected by his fractured relationship with Young Thug, someone he once considered a close friend and collaborator. Although Quan never spoke to his father directly about the feud, Corey said the emotional shift in his son was evident.

“I could see it in him,” Corey shared. “That situation broke his spirit.”

He added that the fallout didn’t just hurt Quan personally — it also impacted his career. Corey likened his son's industry treatment to that of Colin Kaepernick in the NFL, claiming that Quan was essentially blackballed, which took a toll on his self-esteem and momentum as an artist.
