Tory Lanez's Father Says That He'll Be Home "Much Sooner Than Later"
Sonstar Peterson, the father of rapper Tory Lanez, is suggesting that his son could be released from prison much sooner than expected. During a recent interview with Power 106, Peterson hinted at behind-the-scenes developments that may lead to a major shift in Tory’s legal situation.
Lanez, born Daystar Peterson, was convicted in 2023 on three felony charges stemming from the 2020 shooting of Megan Thee Stallion. He was sentenced to 10 years in prison, a verdict that sparked widespread debate and divided public opinion.
Despite the conviction, Sonstar believes the tide is turning in his son’s favor. “I wouldn’t go on record giving a date right now,” he said. “But what I will say is that there are movements happening in the background, and the powers that be can clearly see that this was a hatchet job. They can see based on the evidence—or should I say lack of. Everybody can see that, and so there are things happening right now.”
Doubling down on his optimism, he added, “Like I said, I believe it is much sooner than a lot of people think—much sooner than later. He’s coming out, he’s coming home.”
Sonstar’s comments come as Tory’s legal team continues efforts to appeal the conviction, maintaining that the case was mishandled and that critical evidence was overlooked. While no official update has been announced regarding a potential release or successful appeal, Sonstar’s remarks have reignited speculation about what’s next for the embattled artist.
