Rockstar Games revealed a new look at Grand Theft Auto 6 on Tuesday with the highly anticipated game’s second trailer. It marks our first new look at GTA 6 in nearly a year and a half and reaffirms Rockstar’s commitment to launching its grand, open-world crime adventure in 2026.
Grand Theft Auto 6 is the first brand-new GTA game in more than a decade, and expectations are high. Its predecessor, Grand Theft Auto 5, has sold more than 200 million copies since its debut on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in 2013. The sixth mainline entry in Rockstar’s 27-year-old franchise returns the series to Vice City, set in the fictional state of Leonida, where dual protagonists Jason and Lucia pursue a better life.
This second trailer offers a glimpse of what that life might look like. It begins with Jason getting into his car to pick up Lucia from prison. A series of shots follows, but it’s unclear whether Jason and Lucia’s crime-filled escapades occurred before Lucia’s prison stint or after her release—perhaps she jumped right back into a life of crime. This is a GTA game, after all, so some level of criminal activity is expected.
GTA 6 takes place in the modern day, rather than the stylized 1980s version of Vice City seen in previous entries. That said, the trailer still features some throwback ’80s music.
Rockstar plans to release Grand Theft Auto 6 on May 26, 2026
